Stoddart NZ and Everybody Eats tackling food waste and food insecurity

May 1, 2024

Everybody Eats is thrilled to announce its partnership with Stoddart New Zealand, and their provision of quality kitchen equipment for its newest pay-as-you-can charity restaurant in Glen Innes. Since 2017, Everybody Eats has been rescuing surplus ingredients from local businesses and transforming them into delicious three-course meals for the community. Stoddart NZ has been instrumental in Everybody Eats' expansion in 2023 to a third permanent restaurant serving over 500 meals a week.

The kitchen facilities provided by Stoddart NZ have enabled chefs and volunteers to fully realise the charity's mission of preparing quality kai that brings people together and promotes a more sustainable way of living. It is a central belief of Everybody Eats's kaupapa that everybody not only deserves to eat, but they also deserve to eat well. Food insecurity affects up to one in five Kiwis and the cost-of-living crisis is making a meal with friends and whānau harder to reach for everyone. It is thanks to the collaboration with Stoddart NZ that diners in Glen Innes can enjoy an enhanced culinary experience that has become a guarantee with an Everybody Eats meal, without worrying about the cost.

Everybody Eats Glen Innes Head Chef, Tristan Abbott, says “The top quality equipment provided to our Glen Innes restaurant by our friends at Stoddart NZ has made our evening services seamless thanks to the highly intelligent Giorik combi oven allowing us to cook large quantities of kai for our local community with ease and precision.' With a different menu on offer every night due to the nature of working with surplus food, Tristan adds "The Giorik Flat Grill has been vital for meat and fish cookery, both of which are really popular with our diners.”

“Stoddart NZ is very proud to support the amazing work undertaken by Everybody Eats in supporting communities and making the food supply chain more sustainable. There is both a very strong values alignment for Stoddart NZ and a very strong brand alignment with our Giorik, Adande, and Culinaire equipment utilised at the Glen Innes restaurant. These brands, and our other brands use significantly less electricity, water, and gas, as well as coming in smaller footprint options to fit the modern smaller commercial kitchens.” Said Adrian Dixon, Country Manager, Stoddart NZ.

This partnership is a reflection of both companies' commitment to excellent hospitality for the communities they serve. Not only does it enable Everybody Eats to expand its mission further with consistently good, affordable food available in Glen Innes five nights a week, for the committed volunteers who help to prep, plate and serve the food each day, it is a fantastic opportunity to develop professional kitchen skills in a first-class environment.

Everybody Eats welcomes any and all people interested in making use of its new kitchen's capabilities to come in for dinner or sign up to volunteer. After all, without the hands in the kitchen, there wouldn't be food on the table.

The restaurant is located at Tātou, 133 Line Road, Glen Innes. Open 6pm to 8pm, Sunday to Thursday. Check the website for the daily menu or to register as a volunteer.
